Taronga Zoo Centenary Parade

As part of a small group led by Jane Miscovic, I played an important role as a Parade Management Staging crew member. The Taronga Zoo centenary parade saw the choreographing, co-ordination and execution of school children, zoo volunteers & staff alike as they walked the same steps as Jessie the elephant and other animals who made the journey in 1916 – from Hyde Park, down Macquarie Street and to the Opera House steps.

The Details

Beginning at Hyde Park, the fabulous light parade was escorted by a cast of singing and dancing school children, volunteers and staff who retraced the steps of Jessie the elephant and other animals who made the journey in 1916 from the zoological gardens in Moore Park to the current site of Taronga Zoo. The parade walked down Macquarie Street to the Sydney Opera House, where the kids and Taronga Zoo volunteers performed a spectacular grand finale dance performance.
